Moca Heroes Defeat the Giants and Break Their Unbeaten Streak
Moca, DR – In a vibrant Sunday of the LNB Super League, the Heroes of Moca starred in an outstanding performance that allowed them to defeat the Gigantes Basketball Club with a score of 80-75, in a match held at the Moca 85 sports center.
The Moca team demonstrated their strength on the court, thus taking away the undefeated status from the Giants. Caleb Huffman’s offensive leadership was key to the victory, scoring a total of 25 points. Eloy Vargas also had an outstanding performance, contributing 20 points and nine rebounds to the scoreboard.
Other players who contributed significantly were Robert Glenn, with 10 points, and John Clark Jr., who added nine points, 10 rebounds, and four assists. With this victory, the Heroes improve their record to 3-4, showing a notable improvement in their last four games.
Despite the defeat, the Giants remain at the top of the tournament with a 7-1 record. For the Giants, Francis King Fitzgerald led with 19 points, five rebounds, and four assists. Luismal Ferreiras contributed 16 points and eight rebounds, and Charles Brown Jr. finished with 14 units and five rebounds.
The game remained close until the final minutes. With 3:02 to play, Vargas extended the lead to 76-66 from the free throw line, but the Giants reacted and got closer to 76-73 thanks to a basket by King Fitzgerald with 1:01 on the clock. After a promising start for the home team, who went ahead 15-4, the Giants reacted and closed the first quarter 18-16. The game remained contested until a 6-0 run led by Huffman allowed the Heroes to go into halftime with a 40-34 lead.
