NEW YORK – The New York Mets anticipate the activation of Dominican Juan Soto from the injured list for Wednesday’s game against the Twins, according to information from MLB.com. So far, the team has not issued an official statement. The return of Soto would mean a crucial reinforcement for a Mets team that has felt his absence in recent weeks. The 27-year-old outfielder was displaying outstanding offensive performance before suffering a right calf strain on April 3rd.At the time of his injury, Soto had managed to connect at least one hit in each of the eight games in which he participated, showing an outstanding offensive line of .355/.412/.516, with a home run and two doubles.Following Soto’s absence, the New York team experienced a notable decline. After a 4-4 start —including a 10-3 victory over the Giants in Soto’s last game—, the Mets accumulated three additional victories before falling into a negative streak of 11 consecutive losses, temporarily matching the worst record in the Major Leagues.
