Messi and Ramos: A Stellar Reunion at the 2025 MLS All-Star Game

Austin, Texas, will be the epicenter of soccer next year, hosting the 2025 MLS All-Star Game. The event, which promises strong emotions, will be marked by the expected reunion between two sports legends: Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos. The historical rivalry between the Argentinian and the Spaniard, forged in the Barcelona vs. Real Madrid classics, will revive in this encounter. Although they shared a locker room at Paris Saint-Germain, they will now face each other defending the colors of their respective teams. Messi, Inter Miami’s star player, will represent MLS, while Ramos, Monterrey’s player, will lead the Liga MX team. The Q2 Stadium in Austin will be the stage where this new edition of the All-Star will take place. Fans will be able to enjoy a skills contest before the stellar match.

Stars on the Horizon

The focus will be on Lionel Messi, who arrives at the event in exceptional form. His recent performances, including six doubles in his last seven league games, solidify him as one of the key figures. With 18 goals in 18 MLS matches, Messi shares the top of the goalscoring chart with Nashville’s Sam Surridge. The MLS team will feature other stars such as Hirving ‘Chucky’ Lozano (San Diego), Diego Rossi (Columbus Crew), Evander (FC Cincinnati), and Jordi Alba (Inter Miami). For its part, Liga MX will present a team led by Sergio Ramos, with figures like James Rodríguez (León), Alexis Vega (Toluca) and Sergio Canales (Monterrey). André Jardine, América’s coach, and Nico Estévez, Austin’s coach, will be in charge of leading the Liga MX and MLS teams, respectively. In the previous edition, the Liga MX team won with a score of 1-4. The 2025 MLS All-Star Game will serve as a prelude to the third edition of the Leagues Cup, which will begin on July 29, where teams from Liga MX and MLS will face each other.
