Machado Defines Dominican Ambition in the 2026 World Baseball Classic
Miami – Dominican Republic baseball team captain Manny Machado has made it clear the main objective of the Quisqueyan team for the 2026 World Baseball Classic: to compete at the highest level regardless of the opponent.The star third baseman emphasized that, in addition to individual talent, emotional intelligence and the connection between the players have been fundamental to maintaining unity in the team. Machado also praised the participation of young prospects like Junior Caminero, who has had a notable performance in the tournament. He considers Caminero a player with a promising future.“That was the message to the whole team from day one. All teams are the same, no matter who is in front of us or who we are playing against; the important thing is to play our game”, expressed Machado.

The Dominican leader explained that one of his main responsibilities is to maintain trust and a good atmosphere in the group, allowing each player to perform at their best.“It’s the first time I’ve played with him on the same field. He’s a kid who wants to learn, he loves the ball and asks me a lot of questions about defense and hitting. He’s young and has a lot of talent; he has a very bright future,” he pointed out.
