Miami – The Dominican Republic baseball team continues to demonstrate its offensive power in the 2026 World Baseball Classic. This Monday, the Caribbean team added a memorable milestone to its history thanks to the outstanding performance of Fernando Tatis Jr. During the match against the Israeli National Team at LoanDepot Park in Miami, the Dominican star outfielder shone with the first grand slam in the history of the Dominican team in this tournament. The pivotal play occurred in the second inning, with the bases loaded and two outs on the scoreboard, and with the Dominican Republic leading 1-0. Tatis Jr. connected on a changeup from Israeli pitcher Ryan Prager, sending the ball over the left field fence. The hit came off the bat at 104.9 miles per hour and traveled an estimated distance of 400 feet, increasing the Dominican advantage to 5-0 at that point in the game.This grand slam with the bases loaded represents an unprecedented moment for the Dominican team in the World Baseball Classic, a competition held since 2006.
