Lidom: Tripleheader! Historic day due to storm and rescheduling

SANTO DOMINGO – The Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM) announced a historic day for the 2025-2026 autumn-winter tournament. This week, the circuit will experience an unprecedented day with the scheduling of three doubleheaders. This decision was made due to the suspension of matches caused by the passage of storm Melissa. In addition, the teams are making strategic moves to reinforce their squads and face the intense workload.

A historic day in LIDOM

For the first time since the 1983-84 expansion, LIDOM will hold three doubleheaders on the same day. This situation is unprecedented in the recent history of Dominican baseball. The last time a “double feature” was witnessed was December 20, 2020.
  • December 8, 2020: Licey vs. Gigantes (San Francisco de Macorís).
  • November 27, 2022: Estrellas vs. Toros (La Romana).
  • December 2, 2022 and December 15, 2023: Escogido vs. Águilas (Santo Domingo).

Action from 4:00 p.m.

The first rescheduled games will take place this Friday starting at 4:00 p.m. The matchups will be as follows:
  • Francisco A. Micheli Stadium (La Romana): Licey vs. Toros del Este.
  • Cibao Stadium (Santiago): Estrellas Orientales vs. Águilas Cibaeñas.
  • Quisqueya Juan Marichal Stadium (Santo Domingo): Gigantes del Cibao vs. Leones del Escogido.
These matches correspond to the suspended matchday of October 22. Tonight’s games (7:30 p.m.) The official schedule will be played, maintaining the same matchups, which will complete a double round for the six teams.

Confirmed Additional Reschedulings

Eagles vs. Giants (November 2, Julián Javier) and Toros vs. Licey (October 27, Quisqueya) will be played next Monday. Escogido vs. Águilas and Gigantes vs. Toros (October 25) will be played on Thursday, December 4 at 7:30 p.m. Giants vs. Licey (October 30) and Escogido vs. Águilas (November 4) will be played on Thursday, December 11. The full day of October 24 (Toros-Gigantes, Águilas-Escogido, Licey-Estrellas) will be played on Tuesday, December 16. With these adjustments, the 72nd LIDOM tournament, dedicated to Juan Marichal and contested for the Banreservas Cup, is heading towards a phase of maximum demand.
