LIDOM suspends game day due to storm Melissa: Dominican baseball on pause

SANTO DOMINGO – The Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM) has decided to suspend the entire schedule planned for this Tuesday of the 2025-2026 winter tournament. This measure is due to the adverse weather conditions caused by the passage of Tropical Storm Melissa over the national territory.

Prioritizing Security

The suspension was adopted following the recommendations of the meteorological and civil protection authorities. The main objective is to guarantee the safety of the players, technical staff and fans.

Suspended Matches

The matches affected by this suspension are as follows:
  • Leones del Escogido vs. Gigantes del Cibao, at the Julián Javier stadium in San Francisco de Macorís (7:00 p.m.).
  • Toros del Este vs. Tigres del Licey, at the Quisqueya Juan Marichal stadium in Santo Domingo (7:30 p.m.).
  • Águilas Cibaeñas vs. Estrellas Orientales, at the Tetelo Vargas stadium in San Pedro de Macorís (7:30 p.m.).
LIDOM announced that the new dates for the rescheduling of these games will be announced in due course. The league appreciates the public’s understanding and urges the population to remain attentive to official announcements regarding weather conditions and league decisions.
