LIDOM Announces Awards Calendar for the 2025-2026 Season

The Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM) has revealed the official schedule for the announcement of the winners of the awards corresponding to the regular season of the 2025-2026 championship, dedicated to Mr. Juan Marichal and in option for the Banreservas Cup. The league has informed that the announcements will begin on Friday, January 2nd. A national jury composed of 69 members was in charge of completing the voting process to select the award winners in various categories. These include: Most Valuable Player, Pitcher of the Year, Executive of the Year, Rookie of the Year, and General Manager of the Year. The Most Valuable Player announcement will be made on Wednesday, January 7, during a special broadcast of the official program Palco LIDOM, starting at 12:00 noon, through the YouTube channel LIDOMTV. The other awards will be announced at the same time, through official statements and through the league’s digital platforms and social networks. The revelation calendar will begin on Friday, January 2nd with the announcements of the Rookie of the Year and Gentleman of the Year awards. This last award is granted by the league’s own players and is given to the player who best represents the values of companionship, kindness, decency, and respect for the game. On Sunday, January 4th, the winner of the General Manager of the Year award will be announced, while on Monday the 5th, the Leader of the Year will be announced. Subsequently, on Tuesday the 6th, the Pitcher of the Year will be announced, and finally, on Wednesday the 7th, the winner of the Most Valuable Player award of the regular season will be revealed. The jury was made up of five communicators with no labor, professional, or commercial affiliation with the six professional baseball franchises in the cities of Santiago, San Francisco de Macorís, Santo Domingo, San Pedro de Macorís, and La Romana; four members of the press departments and broadcast networks of the six teams; three Dominican communicators based in the United States; three international reporters established in the Dominican Republic, and one communicator from provinces without franchises, thus guaranteeing the regional equity of the voting process. The provinces represented in the jury were La Altagracia, El Seibo, María Trinidad Sánchez, Valverde, Puerto Plata, La Vega, Espaillat, Monseñor Nouel, and Peravia. For the second consecutive year, LIDOM applied the weighted valuation method, through which voters could select several candidates per award, in the order they deemed appropriate, generating differentiated scores for each position of choice.
