Santo Domingo – Los Leones del Escogido have won their 18th championship in the Dominican Baseball League (LIDOM), thus securing the two-time championship after an exciting final series against the Toros del Este.
The decisive match, held at the Quisqueya Juan Marichal Stadium, culminated with a score of 1-0 in favor of the Lions, sealing the victory in the fifth game of the series.
With this triumph, the Lions closed the series with an impressive 4-1 record, demonstrating their superiority and consistency throughout the final.
The stadium was packed with fans who created a vibrant atmosphere of unconditional support for their team, turning the park into a real party.
This victory solidifies the Leones del Escogido as one of the most decorated franchises in Dominican baseball, reaffirming their tradition of success.
The Game: A Duel of Pitching and Strategy
The only run of the game came in the first inning thanks to consecutive singles by Héctor Rodríguez and Erik González, who advanced on the bases. A groundout by Junior Lake drove in Rodríguez, making the difference.
Grant Gavin started the mound domain of the Lions, pitching 3.2 innings. The relief was key, with Kenny Hernández, Conner Greene, Derek West, Jefry Yan, Alexander Colomé, Aneurys Zabala and Matt Foster, who was awarded the save.
