Minister of Sports Kicks Off the Renovation of the Multipurpose Hall of Piedra Blanca

Monseñor Nouel. The Minister of Sports, Kelvin Cruz, led this Wednesday the start of the repair works of the Multipurpose Hall of Piedra Blanca, in this province. The investment allocated for this project amounts to RD$ 21,423,872.

The renovation of the facility, which covers an area of 1,507.37 square meters, is part of the sports infrastructure remodeling plan at the national level promoted by the government of President Luis Abinader.

“We have come to continue the sports revolution that we are carrying out from the Ministry of Sports throughout the national territory, and Piedra Blanca could not be the exception,” highlighted Minister Cruz.

Minister Cruz also pointed out that the roofing, in an advanced state of disrepair, will be completely renovated for the benefit of the community’s athletes. The remodeling work will include the renovation of the play area, with the installation of professional boards certified by FIBA, digital scoreboards, a 24-second clock, and synthetic flooring. This will allow for the practice of basketball, volleyball, and other sports disciplines, including combat sports. In addition, the administrative offices, bathrooms, locker rooms for athletes, and the cafeteria will be renovated. Maintenance will be carried out on the metal structure, the column bases, and the electrical system. Metal straps will be installed on the roof and aluzinc on the roof of the sports center. The project also includes cement work with chain-link mesh, general painting, and the construction of a large cistern. In the ceremony, provincial authorities participated, including Governor Adela Tejada Gil, the mayors of Piedra Blanca and Bonao, Pedro Contreras Burgos and Eberto Núñez Núñez, respectively, and the Vice Minister of Sports Facilities of Miderec, engineer Samuel Taveras. The event was blessed by the priest Silvano González.
