Judo in La Ciénaga: An event that inspires and paves the way for hope

The Domingo Sabio Sports Center in La Ciénaga vibrated with an event that fused sports and hope. The María García Foundation, together with Seaboard “Clean Energy”, organized a judo exhibition that marked the beginning of registrations for its sports academy in the sector. The event on Sunday was not just a demonstration of skills, but a forceful message about the power of sport as a tool for personal growth and comprehensive training. The exhibition was attended by Wilkin Ogando, national coach, and outstanding athletes from the National Judo Team, who demonstrated the discipline and commitment required by this martial art. The activity was supported by the general and director of Sports of the National Police, Jacobo Mateo Moquete. My commitment is to give back to the sport what it has given me. Bringing judo to La Ciénaga is opening a door to new opportunities so that every boy and girl understands that, with discipline, there is no unattainable goal. María García, a prominent figure in judo worldwide and at the Olympic level, expressed her excitement at seeing the response from young people in the sector.

Strategic Alliances for Development

This project, which seeks to be an engine for social change, is supported by allies who believe in the potential of Dominican youth. The María García Foundation especially thanked Seaboard Energía Limpia, the Dominican Judo Federation (Fedojudo), and Urbe. These institutions have been fundamental in turning this vision into a reality that will positively impact the community.

Open registrations

The María García Foundation invites parents and guardians of La Ciénaga to enroll their children in this academy, where the tatami will become a space for learning honor, respect, and perseverance. With this initiative, the foundation reaffirms judo as a tool for social transformation.
