Juan Soto Surprised to be Left Out of the 2025 All-Star Game
The decision has surprised baseball fans and analysts. Juan Soto, the outstanding Dominican player for the New York Mets and current Player of the Month for June in the National League, was not selected for the 2025 All-Star Game.
The event will be held on July 15th at Truist Park in Atlanta.
Soto, who was among the finalists in the fan voting, was not included in the official rosters revealed this Sunday. This despite his impressive season statistics:
- Batting Average: .263
- On-Base Percentage (OBP): .396
- Slugging: .508
- OPS: .904
- 21 home runs
- 51 RBIs
The outfielder has remained one of the most outstanding hitters in the National League. His performance led a formidable offense during the month of June, earning him official recognition from MLB as the best player of the month. However, he was not selected as a starter or a reserve, which has sparked a debate.
In contrast, teammates Pete Alonso and Edwin Díaz were included in the roster.
Alonso, a finalist in the voting for first base, was selected as a reserve and will make his fifth appearance in an All-Star Game, although he decided not to participate in the Home Run Derby.
Puerto Rican closer Edwin Díaz will attend the event for the third time, this being his second time with the Mets.
The selections of reserve players and pitchers for the All-Star Game are determined by a combination of player voting and decisions by the commissioner’s office.
