New York – Juan Soto continues to demonstrate his worth in Major League Baseball. The New York Mets outfielder hit his 40th home run of the season, marking his second consecutive year with this impressive figure and being only eight stolen bases away from achieving the coveted 40-40. Soto’s hit came in the seventh inning against left-handed pitcher Hoby Milner, giving the Mets a 2-0 lead over the Texas Rangers at Citi Field. With this home run, the Dominican became the first Mets player to combine a season with 40 or more home runs and 30 or more stolen bases.

Soto is close to surpassing his personal record of 41 home runs, achieved in 2024 with the New York Yankees, and to reaching 100 RBIs, as he only needs three to reach that figure. In Major League history, only Barry Bonds (1996 and 1997) and Jeff Bagwell (1997) have had seasons with 40+ home runs, 30+ stolen bases, and 100+ walks. Soto now joins this select group, with the possibility of surpassing these numbers even further if he achieves 40 stolen bases.

Juan Soto’s 2025 Highlights

  • Home Runs: 40, 1 away from his personal best (41)
  • Stolen Bases: 32, 8 away from achieving the 40-40
  • Runs Batted In: 97, 3 away from 100
  • Walks Received: 118, third season with more than 100
  • Runs Scored: 100+, still counting
Historical Milestones: 40 HR + 30 SB + 100 BB – Only Bonds, Bagwell, and Soto have achieved this.
