Anthony Joshua Involved in Tragic Accident in Nigeria
The renowned former heavyweight world champion, Anthony Joshua, was involved in a serious traffic accident in Nigeria, which unfortunately claimed the lives of two of his friends and teammates. Authorities and sources close to the case confirmed the news. The incident occurred on December 29, 2025, around 11:00 a.m., on the Lagos–Ibadan expressway, one of the main arterial roads in the African country. The vehicle, a Lexus SUV, in which Joshua and three other individuals were traveling, suffered a fatal accident. According to preliminary investigations by the Nigerian Traffic Police, the accident was caused by a tire explosion due to speeding, which triggered a failed maneuver before the impact. As a result of the tragic event, Anthony Joshua, 36 years old, suffered minor injuries and was transferred to a hospital in Lagos, where he remains stable under medical observation. Unfortunately, two of his close friends, Latif Ayodele and Sina Ghami, lost their lives instantly at the scene of the accident. Both were part of Joshua’s training team and accompanied him during his stay in Nigeria. The truck driver remains hospitalized in intensive care after the crash. Joshua’s family, present in the country, was informed of the accident after receiving calls from acquaintances seeking information about his condition. An aunt of the boxer described the news as “really shocking”.The accident has raised concerns about road safety on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.It is confirmed with deep sadness that two close friends and team members have tragically passed away.
