Juan Soto confirms his participation in the 2026 World Baseball Classic

Dominican star Juan Soto has confirmed his participation in the next World Baseball Classic, which will take place in 2026. The news was revealed this Tuesday during a press conference in New York, where the outfielder expressed his enthusiasm for representing his country once again.

“I think we’re doing well so far, they’ve contacted me, the Federation and Albert, the manager. We have good expectations, I feel very good,” Soto expressed.

At 26 years old, Soto was already part of the Dominican team in the 2023 edition, where his offensive performance was outstanding, even though the team did not advance beyond the first round.

The Mets’ outfielder made it clear that his participation in the tournament will depend on his physical condition: “And if we are healthy, I will be there 100 percent.”

Soto’s confirmation is a great boost for the Dominican Republic’s aspirations in the international tournament, where they achieved the championship in 2013. His presence in the 2026 team makes him a fundamental piece for the team led by Albert Pujols.

Currently, Soto is in the process of adapting with the New York Mets, showing signs of improvement after a season start. His connection on the field with players like Francisco Lindor and Pete Alonso has been well received by the New York fans.

In addition, Soto was asked about his possible participation in the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM), specifically with the Tigres del Licey. Although he did not confirm his participation, he left the possibility open:

“From LIDOM, I can’t confirm anything about whether it would be this year or next year, but yes, I will try to go there soon, God willing.”
