Santo Domingo, RD. – The Dominican Baseball Federation (Fedom) formally announced the incorporation of the outstanding shortstop Jeremy Peña to the team that will represent the Dominican Republic in the 2026 World Baseball Classic. This confirmation marks the return of one of the most complete players in his position for this prestigious international event.

Peña, current shortstop for the Houston Astros, will wear the tricolor uniform again after his participation in the 2023 edition. His presence once again ensures a combination of offense, elite defense, and experience in high-demand tournaments, essential qualities in a short-format championship.

In the most recent Major League Baseball season, the Dominican shortstop displayed an outstanding offensive line of .304/.363/.477, with an OPS of .840 (OPS+ 132). In addition, he hit 17 home runs, drove in 62 runs, stole 20 bases, and accumulated 5.6 WAR, solidifying himself as one of the best players at his position.

Along with Peña, the Federation confirmed the inclusion of pitchers Huáscar Brazobán, Edwin Uceta and Albert Abreu, who will reinforce the Dominican pitching staff with young, versatile talent and experience in organized baseball in the United States.

The presence of Peña ensures defensive solidity at shortstop and leadership on the field, crucial factors for a Dominican team that once again aspires to obtain the World Baseball Classic title.

The Dominican Republic continues to strengthen its roster with Major League talent, preparing for a tournament where intensity, execution, and national pride will be decisive.
