MEDELLÍN, Colombia – Inter Miami achieved a 1-2 victory over Atlético Nacional in a friendly match held at the Atanasio Girardot stadium, thanks to an own goal in the final moments of the match. The match was marked by the participation of Lionel Messi, who played 76 minutes in front of a stadium full of fans.
Atlético Nacional took the lead with a goal by Juan Manuel Rengifo, but Inter Miami equalized with a goal by Luis Suárez, after a play initiated by Messi. When the match seemed destined for a draw, an own goal by Elkin Rivero in added time defined the victory for the American team.
Atlético Nacional showed an energetic game from the beginning, generating clear scoring opportunities. The reward came in the 25th minute, when Rengifo scored a great goal from outside the area, leaving the rival goalkeeper with no chance.
In the second half, Inter Miami reacted. A mistake by goalkeeper Harlen Castillo allowed Messi to try his luck, and the rebound was taken advantage of by Suárez, who tied the match.
The most emotional moment of the match came in the 76th minute, when Messi was substituted, receiving an ovation from the audience present. Shortly after, a dangerous cross ended in an own goal by Rivero, securing the first preseason victory for Inter Miami.
