Héctor Rodríguez Strengthens the Leones del Escogido for the Final

Santo Domingo – The Leones del Escogido will have the return of Héctor Rodríguez for the Final Series, where they will seek the two-time championship. The outfielder joins the team to face the Toros del Este at the Quisqueya Juan Marichal stadium starting this Wednesday. Carlos Peña, the team’s general manager, confirmed the news at a press conference, highlighting Rodríguez’s commitment to the team.

Héctor Rodríguez is here again, demonstrating his commitment, willingness, and desire to be with the Escogido. We were finally able to obtain that permission and he’s here from day one. He flew directly from Cincinnati to here to arrive on time and be part of the team.

Peña also referred to Jorge Mateo, who, despite having signed a contract in the Major Leagues, remains committed to the Leones. Mateo, according to Peña, prioritized his commitment to the team, demonstrating his dedication and love for the Escogido.

Despite having signed, which we are very proud of, he is here. Even his team asked him to go to the United States immediately, but Jorge said he has to finish the commitment with the Leones del Escogido. That shows that these guys are not playing for a contract, they care about their team. They are true Escogidistas.

Regarding the imported draft, Peña explained that Matt Foster and Luis Fernando Miranda were selected to strengthen the pitching staff.

We chose Foster and Miranda because they can help us in the bullpen, strengthen us, and help us close out games, especially late, speaking specifically of Foster. Miranda comes with an arm that can pitch many innings. Obviously, as a starter he has been successful and also adds a lot of value to us.

Leader Ramón Santiago confirmed that Travis Lakins will be the starting pitcher for the first game of the Final Series, which will be played on Wednesday at 7:15 p.m. José Urquidy will be the starter for the second game in La Romana.

Lakins was one of our most consistent starters throughout the season. He was someone who gave us many quality starts and the chance to win many games due to his effectiveness, especially giving us that depth in the starting pitching. We truly have full confidence in him.

Ramón Santiago
Santiago also praised Rodríguez’s impact on the team, highlighting his ability to change the course of games.

The truth is that Héctor Rodríguez is a game changer. You could notice in that game (for the classification) that he made the difference. And I believe that when you have a player of his caliber on the team, it gives you incredible depth. When I got that news, it brought a smile to my face.
