Hector Borg Will Lead the Estrellas Orientales
Las Estrellas Orientales have officially announced Héctor Borg as their new manager for the upcoming season of the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM). Borg, a native of San Pedro de Macorís and 40 years old, arrives at the team with vast experience in Dominican baseball. In the last three seasons, he served as a bench coach for the Tigres del Licey, including the most recent season. Previously, he was part of the technical staff of the Toros del Este, where he worked for six seasons as a third base coach, four as a bench coach and three as an assistant to the general manager. In the realm of organized baseball in the United States, Borg is linked to the San Francisco Giants organization. He was promoted for the 2026 season to the position of third base coach in the Major League team, after having been a manager in the Minor Leagues of the same organization for several years. One of the most outstanding achievements in his career was his role as leader of the Dominican Republic national team that won the bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, a significant milestone for Dominican baseball.After his appointment was confirmed, Borg expressed his enthusiasm for working with the management, the baseball operations department, and the coaching staff, with the aim of building a competitive team. Furthermore, Borg called on the fans of the Estrellas Orientales to provide their support to the team from the beginning of the season, trusting that, with joint effort, the Estrellas will be able to fight for a new championship for San Pedro de Macorís.This is a commitment I undertake with great responsibility.
