Santo Domingo – Los Leones del Escogido achieved a crucial 11-8 victory over the Gigantes del Cibao, thanks to the outstanding performance of four players who drove in two runs each. This triumph not only extends their winning streak to three games, but also catapults them to fourth position in the tournament standings.

After a third unfavorable inning, where they were down 7-4, the Lions’ bats roared in the fourth inning, manufacturing a six-run rally that gave them a 10-7 lead, which they maintained until the end of the game.

With this result, the scarlet team improves its record to 19-24, moving up in the standings. On the other hand, the Giants, despite demonstrating one of their best offenses of the season, suffered their sixth consecutive defeat, remaining with a record of 17-25. The defeat is attributed to a pitching that failed to contain the rival offense.

The game began with the Giants taking the lead in the first inning, scoring six runs. This early attack forced the exit of the Lions’ starting pitcher, Grant Gavin, who couldn’t get any outs and allowed four runs.

Both teams demonstrated their offensive power by connecting a total of 14 hits. The Giants stood out with seven extra-base hits, including a home run, while the Lions added three hits of more than one base, also with a home run.

Carlos Teller took the victory after pitching one and two-thirds innings, while Stephen Nogosek secured the win with an impeccable ninth inning, achieving his third save of the season. Sam McWilliams took the loss, the first of his season.

The scoreboard was inaugurated with a solo home run by Leury García. Subsequently, Deyvison de los Santos, Marco Hernández, Carlos Peguero, and Kenny Piper contributed to the initial attack, with Peguero driving in two runs.

The Lions’ reaction began in the second inning with a home run by Alexander Canario. Jonathan Guzmán added another run thanks to a walk.

A wild pitch allowed the Giants to score their seventh run in the second inning. In the third episode, a wild pitch by Tayron Guerrero facilitated another score for the Giants.

The Lions’ offense exploded in the fourth inning. Canario hit a single, driving in Melky Brito, while Jonathan Guzmán and Pedro Severino each produced two runs.

The Lions sealed the score with an additional run in the sixth inning, thanks to a run-scoring single by Erik González.
