Dominican Republic Unveils High-Performance Soccer Center: Million-Dollar Investment

The FDF’s modern High Performance Center opens in San Cristóbal

San Cristóbal, Dominican Republic – Last Thursday saw the inauguration of the new High Performance Center (CAR) of the Dominican Football Federation (FDF) in San Cristóbal. This project, which was supported by the FIFA Forward Program, marks a significant milestone for the development of football in the country. The ceremony was attended by prominent figures, including the Vice President of the Republic and authorities from FIFA, Concacaf, and the FDF. With an investment of $4,817,071, the Dominican Republic now has a state-of-the-art complex designed to raise the level of national soccer. The inaugural event brought together important figures from the political and sports fields, including Vice President Raquel Peña, Sports Minister Kelvin Cruz, former President Hipólito Mejía, the governor of San Cristóbal Pura Castilla, and Mayor Nelson de la Rosa. The FDF was represented by its president, José Francisco Deschamps, along with engineer Manuel Estrella, president of the National Selections Commission, and Janet Rivera, a member of the same commission. In addition, Rodolfo Villalobos, a member of the FIFA Council, was present; Jair Bertoni, director of the Member Associations Division (Americas); Sergio Palacios, development manager of the FIFA Regional Office in Panama; and José Rodríguez, head of the FIFA Regional Office, directly responsible for the CAR project. From Concacaf, Mario Monterrosa, Director of Member Associations Affairs of North and Central America, and Alejandro Lesende, Director of Finance, attended. During the activity, a video of FIFA President Gianni Infantino was presented, who praised the work of the FDF and the implementation of the CAR, highlighting its importance for the athletes of the different national teams. In its initial phase, the FDF’s CAR includes two natural grass fields with official FIFA measurements, a two-story main building with capacity to accommodate two teams, with rooms, rest and game areas, administrative offices, meeting and press rooms, kitchen, dining room, laundry, bathrooms and terrace. It also has a maintenance building and perimeter fencing. This complex is intended to benefit the national teams, coaches, referees and all Dominican football. This project, which is just beginning its initial stages, will continue to expand to offer the best facilities to all modalities of football in the country.
