Dominican Republic ready for the challenge against Ukraine in Davis Cup

Antalya, Turkey – The Dominican Republic Davis Cup team is already in Turkish territory, preparing for the crucial match against Ukraine. The series, which will be played with the ambition of ascending to World Group I, is shaping up to be an important milestone for Dominican tennis. Roberto Cid, Peter Bertran, Enmanuel Muñoz and Alejandro Gandini, along with captain Jhonny Berrido and Sergio Tobal as delegate, make up the Dominican delegation that arrived in Antalya over the weekend. Since Monday, the team has been conducting intensive training sessions to adapt to the tournament conditions. The series, scheduled for September 12th and 13th, will be played on a red clay court. Although Ukraine is the home team, the situation in their country forced them to seek an alternative venue, choosing Antalya as the setting for the match.

Very happy to be here and represent the Dominican Republic again in the Davis Cup. Very good first practice all together here, we are getting used to the climate, the surface and the time change. We have felt good and we have time to make adjustments. We are positive for the match.

Roberto Cid

The team is very motivated. It was a pretty long trip, but we are in good spirits. The court is a bit heavy, but we know they will maintain it. It’s my first time here and the important thing is to arrive with a good attitude. We all get along very well and that gives us confidence.

Peter Bertran
The confrontation between the Dominican Republic and Ukraine will be decided in a best-of-five-match series, including four singles and one doubles match.
