Dominican Air Force Dominates 10K Marathon in Military Games

Santo Domingo – The Dominican Republic Air Force (FARD) took the victory in both the men’s and women’s categories during the 10K marathon competition in the games for Cadets and Midshipmen. This event, organized by the sports confederation of the Armed Forces and the National Police, took place in the Mirador Sur of the National District.

Air Domain in the Men’s Competition

Cadet Mercado Alvarez of the Dominican Air Force (FARD) demonstrated his superiority by crossing the finish line with a time of 34:40, securing the gold medal. Cadet Perdomo Bautista, representing the Dominican Army, obtained the silver medal with a time of 34:45. The bronze went to Cadet Silverio Suriel of the FARD, who completed the race in 34:49.

Female Success of the Air Force

In the female branch, the FARD continued its outstanding performance. Cadet Sanchez Severino led the competition, crossing the finish line with a time of 41:59. Cadets Ramirez Doñe and De Jesús, both from the Dominican Army, obtained silver and bronze, respectively, with times of 44:57 and 45:03.

Awards Ceremony

The awards ceremony was headed by Brigadier General José Manuel Duran Infante, President of the Sports Confederation of the Armed Forces and the National Police, along with Colonel Paratrooper Osvaldo Montero Mena, President of the Organizing Committee of the games, and Colonel Rivera La Oz. These inter-academic Games serve as a prelude to the sports games of the Armed Forces and the National Police, an event that annually provides the country with a large percentage of high-performance athletes who compete nationally and internationally.
