Djokovic Departs from the Professional Tennis Players Association

Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic has announced his departure from the Professional Tennis Players Association (PTPA). The decision, communicated this Sunday, is based on significant differences regarding transparency, governance, and the management of his image within the organization. The winner of 24 Grand Slam titles, who co-founded the PTPA in 2021 with Vasek Pospisil, shared the news through his social media. The association, which brings together nearly 500 players from the ATP and WTA circuits, thus loses one of its founders.

After deep reflection, I have decided to completely withdraw from the Association of Tennis Professionals. This decision is in response to persistent concerns about transparency, governance, and the way my voice and image have been represented.

Djokovic expressed his pride in the initial PTPA project, highlighting its goal of strengthening the players’ voice. However, he noted that its current principles no longer align with the direction the organization has taken.

I shared a clear vision with Vasek when founding the association, but it has become evident that my values and my approach are no longer aligned with the direction the union has taken.
