SANTO DOMINGO, RD. – Dominican third baseman Rafael Devers did not participate in the preseason game between the San Francisco Giants and the Los Angeles Dodgers due to a hamstring injury.
The organization decided to keep the star hitter out of the lineup as a precautionary measure during Spring Training, prioritizing his recovery and availability for the start of the Major League Baseball season.
Devers remains a key figure in the team’s offense. Last season, he hit 35 home runs and drove in 109 runs, after playing 73 games with the Boston Red Sox and 90 games with San Francisco.
Throughout his career in the Major Leagues, he has accumulated 235 home runs and 747 RBIs. In addition, he has been selected three times for the All-Star Game and was part of the 2018 World Series champion team with Boston.
During his time with the Red Sox, the Dominican led the team in RBIs for five consecutive seasons and finished in the top 20 in American League MVP voting five times.
Focused on the Season
Regarding the World Baseball Classic, the third baseman chose not to join the Dominican Republic team in this edition, with the aim of focusing on his physical preparation with the Giants and avoiding any risk of injury.
Devers has emphasized that his priority is to arrive in optimal condition at the start of the regular season and to follow the conditioning program established by the club’s medical staff.
A New Beginning in San Francisco
Since he left Boston in 2025, the outstanding batter has preferred to keep a low profile when talking about the reasons for his departure.
In his public statements, he has avoided entering into controversies or responding directly to versions about possible differences with the directive, limiting himself to thanking the organization and the fans for the years he shared with the team.
His focus, as he has reiterated on several occasions, is on giving his best with the Giants and continuing to build a new stage in his career in the Major Leagues.
