Detained for Clashes in Celta vs. Olympique de Lyon Match
Vigo – The National Police have arrested three additional people in connection with the incidents that occurred before the Europa League match between Celta de Vigo and Olympique Lyonnais.
These arrests are in addition to the two ultras already arrested previously for their participation in the altercations.
The events date back to the night of March 12, when a group of Celta ultras, identified as members of ‘Tropas de Breogán’, attacked a hospitality venue where fans of the French team were located.
According to the police statement, the attackers, numbering about thirty, tried to hide their identity by covering themselves with dark clothing, hoods and balaclavas.
The attack resulted in cut and contusion wounds for three French fans, two of whom required hospital attention.
Despite the establishment owners’ efforts to block the doors, the ultras managed to cause significant damage, smashing windows and doors with sticks and metal bars.
Faced with the impossibility of accessing the interior, the aggressors fled the scene in small groups, dispersing to avoid being located by the authorities.
The detainees face charges for the crimes of injuries, public disorder, and property damage.
Investigations remain open, with the aim of identifying and arresting more individuals involved in the assault. Further arrests are not ruled out.
