Adrián del Castillo leads the Diamondbacks to victory over the Orioles

BALTIMORE – Adrián del Castillo delivered a stellar performance, driving in five runs to secure the Arizona Diamondbacks’ 8-5 victory over the Baltimore Orioles in an exciting matchup that extended to ten innings at Camden Yards.

The receiver was fundamental in the triumph, connecting a two-run home run that broke the tie and adding the first triple of his career. These actions were crucial for the offense that defined the game in extra innings.

The Diamondbacks concluded a successful nine-game road trip with a 6-3 record, surpassing the Mets, Phillies, and Orioles in their respective series. On this trip, Corbin Carroll also stood out, hitting two doubles and scoring twice.

In the tenth inning, Arizona put together a three-run rally that proved decisive for the final result. Venezuelan Ildemaro Vargas started with a bunt that turned into a hit, extending his streak to 12 consecutive games hitting, a new franchise record for the start of the season. Subsequently, he scored after a single by Nolan Arenado, extending the lead.

The previous tie occurred in the sixth inning, when Alek Thomas drove in a run with a groundout, tying the score 4-4 in a game that remained close for much of the game.

From the mound, Ryan Thompson claimed victory after pitching a perfect ninth inning that forced extra innings. Venezuelan Juan Morillo secured his second save in the Major Leagues, retiring the three batters he faced in the tenth inning.

Despite a mixed outing from starting pitcher Eduardo Rodríguez, who allowed four runs in five innings, the Diamondbacks managed to prevail thanks to their effective hitting and the solid performance of their bullpen.

With this result, Arizona continues to demonstrate its ability in tight situations, improving its record in decisive games and solidifying a productive road trip.
