The Dallas Cowboys have solidified their position as the world’s most valuable sports franchise, reaching a value of $12.8 billion. This figure represents an increase of $2.48 billion compared to the previous year.
The Cowboys have topped Sportico’s list of sports franchises for six consecutive years.
In 2024, the Cowboys were the first to surpass the $10 billion barrier, with an initial valuation of $10.32 billion.
Other teams such as the Los Angeles Rams and the New York Giants have joined the select group of franchises with a value exceeding $10 billion, with figures of $10.43 billion and $10.25 billion, respectively.
The report reveals that the average value of each of the 32 NFL teams is $7.1 billion, representing a 20% increase compared to the previous year and more than double compared to four years ago.
The Cowboys lead the list, while the Cincinnati Bengals are at the bottom with a value of $5.5 billion.The Impact of Jerry Jones on the Value of the Cowboys
Founded in 1960, the Dallas Cowboys belong to billionaire Jerry Jones, who acquired the franchise in 1989 for $140 million. This investment has experienced a growth of more than 8,400 percent.
Under Jones’ leadership, the Cowboys won Super Bowls XXVII, XXVIII, and XXX, corresponding to the 1992, 1993, and 1995 seasons. These titles, added to those obtained in 1971 and 1977, position Dallas as the second-most winning team of the Lombardi trophy, along with the San Francisco 49ers.
Despite not having won an NFL title in the last 30 years, Jones has managed to increase the value of the franchise.
