Hillsboro, Oregon – Baseball witnessed a spectacular defensive play with a surname that resonates in the history of the sport.
Druw Jones, D-backs prospect and the second overall pick in the 2022 Draft, made an impressive home run robbery, recalling the best performances of his father, Andruw Jones, recognized for his 10 Gold Gloves.
In the third inning of the game between the Hillsboro Hops (High-A) and the Eugene Emeralds, Jones showed his skill by robbing a home run from prospect James Tibbs.
The catch, which prevented a run, generated a great celebration by his teammates, including right fielder Ángel Ortiz and Mexican pitcher Daniel Núñez.
Jones, who holds the seventh spot in the D-backs’ prospect rankings, had already displayed his defensive talent in his professional debut, making an exceptional one-handed catch. His instinct, speed, and ability to read batted balls establish him as one of the most promising center fielders in the Minor Leagues.
