CBF President, Samir Xaud, Implicated in Investigation of Electoral Crimes
The president of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), Samir Xaud, is at the center of a Federal Police investigation for alleged “electoral crimes” in the state of Roraima, in northern Brazil. The information was confirmed this Wednesday. The police operation, which involved searches at various addresses, including the CBF headquarters, focuses on events that occurred in Roraima and Rio de Janeiro.The investigation, called “Black Box”, began in September 2024, on the eve of the municipal elections. Authorities seized 500,000 reais, allegedly intended for vote buying, according to the Federal Police. As part of the operation, the Brazilian Justice ordered the seizure of more than 10 million reais in bank accounts of those investigated, although it was not specified if Xaud was directly affected by this measure. The agents conducted searches at CBF headquarters between 06:24 and 06:52 local time on Wednesday. The investigation is being carried out by the Electoral Justice of Roraima, Xaud’s home state.The CBF assured that the operation is not related to its football activities and that Xaud is not the main focus of the investigation.
