Toronto, Canada – September 9, 2025.

The Toronto Blue Jays have suffered a setback. Their star shortstop, Bo Bichette, was placed on the 10-day injured list this Tuesday due to a sprained left knee.

Bichette’s injury occurred during Saturday’s game against the New York Yankees, following a collision at the plate. The move to the injured list is retroactive to Sunday.

As a result, the Canadian organization was forced to make an adjustment to its roster. Outfielder Joey Loperfido was called up from the Triple-A Buffalo affiliate to take Bichette’s place.

Despite the collision, Bichette was able to continue playing after the game resumed, although the Blue Jays lost 3-1 at Yankee Stadium. However, the player did not participate in Sunday’s game and medical tests confirmed the injury.

Bichette’s absence is a hard blow for Toronto in the final phase of the season. The 27-year-old player has been a key piece in the team’s offense and defense.

Faced with this situation, manager John Schneider will have to reconfigure the lineup and rely on the depth of the roster to maintain competitiveness in the fight for the postseason.
