Araujo Returns to FC Barcelona Training

Uruguayan defender Ronald Araujo was the main novelty in FC Barcelona’s open-door training session at the Johan Cruyff Stadium. This special session marked the beginning of the preparation for the Catalan derby against Espanyol. Araujo, after overcoming health problems, rejoined the group after more than a month of absence. The center-back trained at the same pace as his teammates in front of 5,530 fans. Despite his return, Araujo’s participation in the derby is not yet confirmed. Pau Cubarsí and Gerard Martín are the main options for the defense.

Pedri and Koundé Train Normally

Pedri, absent in the last match due to discomfort, also trained with the group and is expected to return to the starting eleven. Jules Koundé, who was substituted as a precaution in the previous match, completed the session without problems and will be available. The main doubt is Dani Olmo, who suffered a dislocation in his left shoulder and his participation remains in doubt.

Festive Atmosphere in Training

The training included various exercises and featured the participation of players from the subsidiary team. Lamine Yamal, Pedri, and Raphinha were the most applauded. The only absences were Gavi and Andreas Christensen. Coach Hansi Flick led the session after the Christmas break, with the aim of maintaining the lead in the standings. Upon finishing, the players interacted with the fans, and all proceeds will go to the ‘Azulgrana Bracelets’ project of the FC Barcelona Foundation.
