Ron Washington Remains Out of Action with the Los Angeles Angels
Los Angeles Angels announced this Friday that Ron Washington, their manager, will not be in charge of the team for the rest of the 2025 season. The decision was made because there has not been a significant improvement in his health. Given this situation, the organization has appointed Ray Montgomery as interim manager. Ryan Goins, for his part, will take on the role of bench coach. Washington, 73, stepped away from the team on June 20th due to health problems that required specialized medical attention in New York. Perry Minasian, general manager of the Angels, emphasized that the priority is the complete recovery of the experienced strategist before considering his return.Washington, known for his experience and leadership, took the reins of the Angels at the beginning of this season with the goal of transforming the team’s culture. His absence represents a challenge, but the club has expressed full confidence in Montgomery, who was already part of the coaching staff as a bench coach and has previous experience in management roles. Management did not provide further details on Washington’s specific health condition, but reiterated that the main focus will be on his overall well-being.“We are going to make sure to review every detail and that it is 100 percent before he returns to the dugout and to manage. We know how important this job is, but there are things bigger than baseball, and health is the priority,” Minasian declared.
