Amed Rosario returns to the Yankees on a one-year contract
The New York Yankees have secured the services of versatile Dominican player Amed Rosario for the 2026 season, through a one-year contract valued at 2.5 million dollars.
Rosario, 30 years old, had a notable performance after joining the team at the 2025 Trade Deadline, which facilitated his stay in the organization.
In the previous season, split between the Washington Nationals and the Yankees, the infielder demonstrated his worth with a batting average of .276, hitting six home runs, driving in 23 runs, and recording a slugging percentage of .436, the best mark of his career, in 62 games.
Despite having played for seven different organizations in his nine seasons in the Major Leagues, Rosario remains a valuable player, thanks to his offensive ability and his experience in various defensive positions.
In 2025, he demonstrated his versatility by playing at third base, second base, right field, and shortstop, offering valuable depth to the team.
The Quisqueyano, who was considered the number five prospect in baseball according to MLB Pipeline in 2017, reached the Major Leagues with the New York Mets and was later part of the trade that brought Francisco Lindor to Cleveland in 2021.
After his time in Cleveland, where he had two outstanding seasons, Rosario has taken on a utility player role, contributing experience and defensive consistency in teams like the Dodgers, Reds, Rays, Nationals, and now again with the Yankees.
The Yankees value his ability to play multiple positions and his career batting average of .273.
