ANAHEIM, California. The Los Angeles Angels have expressed interest in Cody Bellinger, one of the most sought-after free agents on the winter market, according to a report by MLB Network analyst Jon Heyman. The organization has already explored the possibility of incorporating the former Most Valuable Player.

Bellinger, who played the first six seasons of his career with the Dodgers, is also being considered by his former team, the current defending champions, who are evaluating a possible reunion with the experienced hitter.

This interest from the Angels arises after the unexpected change involving outfielder Taylor Ward, who hit 36 home runs last season. This departure has created a significant void in the lineup and in the defense of left field.

Ward played 153 games in that position in 2024, the same one where Bellinger had the most participation in 2025 with the Yankees, demonstrating his defensive ability in the three outfield positions.

A left-handed batter that fits the team’s needs

The Angels are looking to balance a lineup primarily composed of right-handed hitters. Currently, first baseman Nolan Schanuel is the only projected starter who bats left-handed, making Bellinger an attractive option for his offensive production and defensive versatility.

The outfielder, in addition to his offensive potential and ability to get on base, offers above-average defense and experience in high-pressure situations, qualities that could strengthen the Angels’ offensive core.
