Tokyo, September 27, 2025 – Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz demonstrated his recovery after concerns about his left ankle, defeating Belgian Zizou Bergs with a score of 6-4 and 6-3, which secures him a place in the quarterfinals of the Tokyo tournament.

After a small mishap in his second-round match against the Argentinian Sebastián Báez, Alcaraz played with protection in the affected area. However, he demonstrated a remarkable performance during the 80 minutes that the match lasted.

With this victory, Alcaraz adds his number 64 win of the season and continues his streak, achieving his ninth consecutive qualification to the quarterfinals in the ATP circuit.

The Spanish tennis player, who hasn’t lost a match since the Wimbledon final against the Italian Jannik Sinner, will face American Brandon Nakashima in the next round, who defeated Hungarian Marton Fucsovics with a score of 7-5 and 6-3.

The match against Nakashima is anticipated as one of the highlights of the tournament, as Alcaraz seeks to maintain his good performance and get closer to another title in his career.
