The Spanish tennis player defeated Australian Adam Walton in three sets, advancing to the second round of the first Grand Slam of the season. The final score was 6-3, 7-6(2), and 6-2, demonstrating Alcaraz’s superiority in the match. This victory marks his official debut in 2024 and his first match without Juan Carlos Ferrero as head coach. The match, which lasted two hours and eight minutes, took place at Rod Laver Arena. Samu López was present in the box, taking on the role of coach in this new stage for the tennis player from Murcia. Alcaraz, despite not having reached the semifinals yet at the Australian Open, demonstrated solidity and control, especially against an opponent supported by the home crowd. The second set, particularly contested, was decided in a ‘tie break’. In the next round, Alcaraz will face the German Yannick Hanfmann, who defeated the American Zachary Svajda.Ferrero Speaks
