Cibao Eagles Strengthen Their Roster for the Round Robin
The Baseball Operations Manager of the Águilas Cibaeñas, Gian Guzmán, has detailed the team’s strategies for the Round Robin, highlighting the selection of Cristhian Adames in the Re-entry Draft of the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM). The team’s priority is to strengthen its performance on the field, especially in the infield. The choice of Adames responds to the need to cover the absence of Gerardo Perdomo in the first games of the Round Robin, due to family commitments. Perdomo is expected to rejoin in January.Guzmán highlighted Adames’ versatility and offensive profile, a switch-hitter who will add value at second and third base. His ability to connect with the ball and his good performance in the Dominican League are key factors for his selection. The Eagles made six selections in total, focusing primarily on reinforcing their pitching staff. In addition to Adames, Óscar de la Cruz, Misael Tamárez, Yunior Marte, Carlos Belén, and Andrew Pérez were added. Cristhian Adames had an outstanding performance with the Tigres del Licey in the regular season, participating in 49 of the 50 games. In 169 official at-bats, he batted .308, with 52 hits, three home runs, 12 doubles, 20 runs scored and 22 RBIs, in addition to recording .391 OBP, .432 slugging and .823 OPS. The infielder already knows the atmosphere of the yellow team, after having reinforced the Eagles during the semifinal of the 2021-2022 championship. Regarding the other selections, Guzmán highlighted the contribution of Óscar de la Cruz. “Óscar is an opener who had a great performance in the regular season, has no restrictions, usually goes deep into the games and gives us greater flexibility,” he indicated. Regarding potential imported reinforcements, Guzmán mentioned that the team is in talks with foreign leagues, such as Mexico and Venezuela. The arrival of imported players is expected, as the team has available space. Guzmán assured that the core of the team remains stable and that important reincorporations are expected for the Round Robin. Players like Perdomo, Amador will be added and it is very likely that Jonathan Clase will be reactivated. Las Águilas Cibaeñas will begin their participation in the Round Robin this Friday, December 27, seeking to advance to the Final Series of the championship.“We understand that Cristhian Adames is going to give us much more depth in the infield, since Gerardo Perdomo will not be available in the first games of the Round Robin due to a family commitment and would return in January”, Guzmán pointed out.
