Abinader Assures Satisfactory Progress in the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games
The President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, has confirmed that the preparations for the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026 are progressing as planned, with results that have been described as satisfactory. The statement was made after a meeting with the Organizing Committee and key officials involved in the event. During the meeting, a detailed report on the current state of the organization was presented. This report highlighted the level of planning achieved, the adherence to the established schedule, and the positive impact expected for the country.The president was accompanied by the Minister of Sports, Kelvin Cruz, and other officials whose institutions are directly related to the organization of the event. The main objective, according to Abinader, is to ensure that the Games are held under the principles of transparency, efficiency, and a strong sense of national unity. In addition, he called on the population to get involved and enjoy this important sporting event. Abinader reiterated the government’s goal that Santo Domingo 2026 establish a new standard in the region.“We are very happy with our planning work. Everything is going at the pace we expect, even with a significant margin,” expressed President Abinader.

Prior to the president’s statements, José Monegro, president of the Organizing Committee, presented technical and logistical details on the progress of the event. Monegro pointed out that all areas are working according to the established schedule and that, in some cases, what was programmed has been exceeded.“We are a reasonable time ahead in many organizational areas. We are all committed and there is no room for unnecessary noise; I am sure that they will be the best Games we will have to put on,” he indicated.

Monegro reported that the Games are expected to set historical participation records, with 6,220 athletes, more than a thousand already classified and 27 confirmed countries. He also emphasized that the organization is based on three fundamental pillars: austerity, modernity, and integration.“In each of the areas we are following the previously established schedule. In fact, in some we are ahead of schedule,” he explained.

The XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026 will be held from July 24 to August 8, with competitions in Santo Domingo and several provinces of the country. The event seeks to unite the entire nation through sport.“Austerity is investing what needs to be invested, when it needs to be invested, and in what needs to be invested,” he pointed out.
