Tragedy in Santiago: Young Haitian man passes away after a month-long battle following a fatal wound

A tragic event has shocked the Los Solares de Bella Vista sector in Santiago, following the confirmation of the death of Robinson Paulemile, a 21-year-old Haitian man who lost his life after remaining hospitalized for a month. The victim succumbed to severe complications resulting from a stab wound that perforated his intestine during a violent confrontation.

Paulemile, who made a living through small money loans, went to the aforementioned sector with the goal of collecting an outstanding debt. What should have been a routine procedure quickly escalated into a physical confrontation, where the young man was seriously injured by a woman who, according to his relatives’ accounts, used a bladed weapon to attack him.

A month-long ordeal in the hospital

Following the incident, the young man was rushed to the José María Cabral y Báez Regional University Hospital. Despite undergoing four highly complex surgeries in a desperate attempt to save his life, the severity of his internal injuries led to his passing early this Sunday morning.

The victim’s brother, Gabo Jhon Weslyde, revealed that this conflict did not only affect Robinson, but another of his brothers was also attacked at the scene, receiving a machete blow to the neck from which he managed to survive.

Those involved are there, they haven’t moved, they are at home, calm.

Relatives cry out for justice

Faced with the loss, Paulemile’s loved ones have raised their voices to demand justice, denouncing that, despite having filed a formal complaint with the corresponding authorities, the alleged perpetrators remain free without having been prosecuted.

  • The relatives demand a thorough investigation by the National Police and the Public Ministry.
  • They demand the immediate arrest of the aggressors involved in the conflict.
  • They describe Robinson as a hardworking, calm young man, free from any type of vices or social problems.

The Los Solares de Bella Vista community, where the family has resided for more than a decade, remains waiting for the case to be clarified and for the authorities to take decisive measures to prevent this act of violence from going unpunished.
