United States reaches historic milestone of 250,000 visas revoked under the Trump administration
The United States Department of State has reached a significant milestone in its immigration policy by confirming the revocation of more than 250,000 visas since the beginning of President Donald Trump’s second term. This measure is part of a comprehensive strategy aimed at tightening border controls and rigorously monitoring foreigners who hold entry permits to U.S. territory.
According to official information, the cancellations are in response to a series of irregularities that include violation of the terms of stay, the commission of crimes, fraudulent activities, abuse of the immigration system, as well as threats to national security and calls for violence against the country or its citizens.
Under the Trump presidency and the leadership of Secretary Rubio, the State Department has revoked more than 250,000 visas, a historic milestone that reflects our firm commitment to protecting the American people.

Focus on “birth tourism” and asylum requests
Within this group of revoked visas, approximately 2,300 cases are directly related to so-called “birth tourism,” a practice where foreign women enter the country with the goal of giving birth so that their children automatically acquire U.S. citizenship.
Likewise, the administration has paid special attention to asylum seekers. It is estimated that the government is working on the review of business and tourism visas (categories B1 and B2) issued between 2016 and 2026, for individuals who subsequently filed asylum petitions. The authorities have stated that asylum should not be used as a mechanism to evade immigration laws or overwhelm the system with applications considered frivolous.
Security criteria and international sanctions
- Continuous evaluation: Authorities maintain a constant auditing process to identify those who have committed crimes, supported terrorism, or defrauded the system.
- Immigration privilege: The State Department emphasizes that a U.S. visa represents a privilege and not a right, so any breach of the conditions leads to the immediate loss of the document.
- Regional sanctions: Recently, it was reported that visas were revoked for 27 officials and former officials from Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru, along with their family members, due to corruption allegations.
With these actions, Alofoke Deportes follows up on the immigration policies that impact international mobility and the security of the United States, reaffirming that the authorities will continue with a firm stance against any immigration irregularity.
