Two men wanted by justice die after clashes with DICRIM agents

In operations deployed by the Central Directorate of Investigation (DICRIM) of the National Police, two individuals who were being pursued for their alleged participation in criminal acts, including armed robbery and motorcycle theft, lost their lives this Saturday after engaging in a shootout with authorities in separate incidents.

Incident in Villa Duarte

The first of the confrontations took place in the Villa Duarte sector, Santo Domingo East. There, Juan Carlos Ventura García, 39, was shot dead following an exchange of gunfire with a police patrol that was carrying out search operations in the Los Parados alley. Ventura García, who had two active arrest warrants, passed away while receiving medical attention at the Dr. Darío Contreras Hospital.

The law enforcement institution’s report details that the deceased had a criminal record that included entries for aggravated robbery and criminal association. At the scene, authorities recovered a Caranday brand pistol, 9-millimeter caliber, with an illegible serial number, which had allegedly been used by the individual to attack the officers.

Simultaneously, in the province of San Cristóbal, the death of 26-year-old Edgar Yomerbi Pinales, known in the criminal underworld as “El Jefe,” was recorded. According to preliminary investigations, Pinales was identified as the leader of a criminal structure dedicated to armed robbery and motorcycle theft, operating mainly on the 6 de Noviembre highway and surrounding areas.

Both events are the result of the constant actions maintained by DICRIM in the pursuit of criminality and the maintenance of public order throughout the national territory.

These actions are part of the security strategy implemented by the National Police to dismantle organized gangs and reduce crime rates affecting various communities in the country.
