The management of the Toros del Este has finalized a strategic move ahead of the upcoming season of the Dominican Professional Baseball League (LIDOM). The La Romana-based team officially announced the arrival of first baseman Rainer Núñez, who joins the team following a trade with the Estrellas Orientales involving designated hitter Sandber Pimentel.
This transaction responds to the bullfighting organization’s goal of strengthening its offensive depth and expanding tactical variants for the coaching staff from the beginning of the season.
A reinforcement with a proven track record
Rainer Núñez, 25, lands in La Romana with the endorsement of having been named Rookie of the Year during the 2022-23 season. Throughout his career in the Dominican winter circuit, the first baseman has demonstrated his ability to produce, accumulating nine home runs and 36 runs batted in across 74 hits.

A fact that generates positive expectations among the bullfighting fan base is Núñez’s performance at Francisco Micheli Stadium. The La Romana native feels comfortable at home, where he has recorded a .306 batting average and a .359 on-base percentage in 13 games played.

For his part, Sandber Pimentel returns to the Estrellas Orientales, the organization that originally selected him in the 2015 draft. Pimentel, who has added nine home runs in his career within the league, will seek to regain his offensive rhythm after his time with the Eastern team.
With this addition, the Toros del Este maintain an active movement in the off-season, adding Núñez to a list of previous acquisitions that includes infielder Enmanuel Valdez and left-handed pitcher Reymin Guduán.
