Tigres del Licey begin their path to the 2026-27 championship
The Tigres del Licey organization has made official the start of its preseason training for next Monday, September 21. The most decorated team in the Dominican Professional Baseball League (LIDOM) will take the first steps in its practices at the facilities of the Toronto Blue Jays academy, located in Baseball City, Boca Chica.
The blue team, which holds 24 national titles, is preparing with determination for the start of the winter season, scheduled for October 16. On that opening date, the felines will face the Leones del Escogido in a duel that promises excitement from the very first day.

The initial practices will be under the supervision of the coaching staff designated by the franchise. It is expected that, after fulfilling his commitments in the Major Leagues with the New York Mets, manager Gilbert Gómez will join the team’s ranks to lead the strategy for the campaign.
The coaching staff that will accompany Gómez on this mission is made up of figures with experience and great knowledge in winter baseball:

- Gerardo Casadiego: Pitching coach
- César Cabral: Assistant pitching coach

With the progressive arrival of the players and the consolidated technical structure, the Tigres del Licey set their machinery in motion with the clear objective of fighting for a new crown and continuing to extend their legacy in Dominican winter baseball.
The blue fan base remains attentive to the development of these training sessions, which will set the tone for the competitiveness that Licey intends to show from the start of the contest on October 16th.
