The event, which will run until October 4th, was officially inaugurated by the Vice President of the Republic, Raquel Peña, and the Minister of Culture, Roberto Ángel Salcedo.

This special edition pays tribute to the renowned Dominican writer José Mármol, whose career has been fundamental to national literature. In addition, the event features the participation of Panama as the guest country of honor, strengthening cultural ties through various artistic and literary exhibitions.

For his part, Minister Roberto Ángel Salcedo emphasized that these types of meetings are fundamental to fostering reading as a pillar of critical thinking. Salcedo highlighted that the fair functions as an essential bridge for exchange between readers, creators, and diverse global cultural manifestations.

Recognition of José Mármol and international presence

The National Theater was the stage where tribute was paid to José Mármol. The author expressed his gratitude for the distinction, noting that this homage not only recognizes his personal work, but also the effort of an entire generation of Dominican writers who have contributed to the country’s literary heritage.

The Panamanian delegation also shone on the opening day. Through an audiovisual display and folk dance performances, the guest country offered a glimpse into its identity, consolidating the spirit of brotherhood that characterizes this edition of the fair.

Citizens interested in being part of this cultural experience can visit the venue at the Juan Pablo Duarte Culture Plaza, where the doors will be open to the public for the enjoyment of the vast literary and artistic offerings prepared for this year.
