Tragedy in Sudan: Armed attack leaves at least 21 dead in South Kordofan
A new escalation of violence has shaken Sudan, leaving a tragic toll of at least 21 people dead, including women and children, following an attack attributed to the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N). This rebel group, which maintains an alliance with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), intensified hostilities in the state of South Kordofan.
According to reports provided by the Sudan Doctors Network, the attack was concentrated in the towns of Debi and Luweri. These areas are inhabited mostly by the Otoro tribe, an ethnic community that has been involved in territorial disputes with the rebel group over the last few months in the Nuba Mountains.
Violation of peace agreements and forced displacement
The humanitarian organization has described this event as a flagrant violation of the current ceasefire agreement. In addition to the loss of human life, the attack has caused the mass displacement of civilians who, fearing further reprisals, have had to abandon their homes.
These actions constitute a clear violation of the cessation of hostilities and represent a direct attack against the civilian population on ethnic grounds.

This event is not an isolated case. Just this past August 25, a similar campaign was reported that claimed the lives of at least 27 people under dynamics of ethnic persecution. The situation in South Kordofan is critical, as both the RSF and the SPLM-N seek to consolidate territorial control against the Sudanese Army.
