Dominican talent on the rise: Só Danza in Motion awards 55 international scholarships

The Só Danza in Motion Dominican Republic program successfully concluded its training sessions, consolidating itself as a key platform for artistic development in the country. With the support of the Ministry of Culture and the General Directorate of Fine Arts, the event culminated in the awarding of 55 international scholarships, designed to boost the careers of young local dancers through exchange and specialized training.

A tour of national training

The initiative was carried out in two strategic locations, managing to gather a total of 180 students. The first stage took place from August 3rd to 5th at the National School of Dance (ENDANZA) in Santo Domingo, while the second phase was held from August 7th to 9th at the School of Fine Arts in Santiago de los Caballeros.

  • Santo Domingo: 30 scholarships were awarded among a group of 150 participants. Benefits include intensive and annual courses, with values reaching 4,000 euros, covering 100% or 50% of the total cost.
  • Santiago de los Caballeros: 25 additional scholarships were assigned, of which 10 were full coverage, facilitating access to international programs with values between 500 and 800 euros.

For a dancer, training should not be limited to the local reality; it is essential to have the opportunity to travel, study in other countries, and share with students and professionals from different artistic backgrounds.

Impact and future vision

Beyond scholarships, the program seeks to create solid links between the Dominican dance community and the international circuit. As part of the incentives, the participating academies in Santiago received a special 50% discount to attend Só Danza events in Brazil or Italy. Likewise, anticipation remains for the awarding of an international airline ticket, sponsored by the company Neos, whose winner will be announced soon after the selection by the teachers.

The organizers emphasized that the commitment transcends the scholarships awarded. The teachers present have expressed their willingness to open the doors of their international events to all participating students, coordinating with school principals to ensure that each young person finds the training alternative best suited to their professional needs.
