Educational progress and transformation: Monte Plata presents its 2021-2025 accountability report
The Regional Education Directorate 17 in Monte Plata held its accountability act corresponding to the 2021-2025 period. The event, led by regional director Buenaventura Enrique de la Cruz, took place in the Governor’s Hall and served as a stage to highlight the milestones achieved in terms of transparency, equity, and academic quality in the province.
During his speech, De la Cruz emphasized that the administration has prioritized the modernization of classrooms through an ambitious digital transformation. The delivery of electronic devices, robotics kits, and interactive whiteboards has been key to adapting the teaching process to the current demands of the educational system.
Key achievements in regional management
- Infrastructure: Inauguration of new educational centers in the five municipalities of the province.
- School Transportation: Consolidation of the National School Transportation System, a program that guarantees safety and punctuality for thousands of students and teachers.
- Student Welfare: Implementation of comprehensive health days (ophthalmological, dental, and vaccination), in addition to the constant delivery of school supplies, uniforms, and school meals.
The regional director emphasized that these efforts are directly reflected in academic results. According to the statistics presented, the percentage of students with fluent reading in third grade went from 23% in 2020 to exceeding 50% in 2025, in addition to recording significant improvements in the performance of Social Sciences and Natural Sciences.
The collaboration between authorities, teachers, and families has been the engine that allows us to guarantee transparency in the management of resources and ensure that every educational process has the active participation of our community.

The event also served as a space for institutional recognition. Prominent figures such as Father Julián de la Cruz Moreta and Sixto Antonio Soriano himself received awards for their trajectory and service to the local educational system. The activity was attended by provincial authorities, including Governor Rafaela Javier, Senator Pedro Tineo, and various mayors from the area.
The day concluded with an artistic performance by the Madre Ascensión Nicol Educational Center Marching Band, reaffirming the role of culture and student talent in strengthening the Monte Plata educational system.
