Boosting young talent: Government awards 10,000 new university scholarships

In an event led by the Vice President of the Republic, Raquel Peña, the Dominican government formally began the distribution of 10,000 scholarships through the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (MESCyT). This initiative seeks to strengthen access to higher education, reward academic effort, and boost the human capital necessary for the country’s growth.

During the ceremony, Peña emphasized that President Luis Abinader’s administration maintains an unwavering commitment to education as a driver of national development. The Vice President, who leads the Education Cabinet, underscored that this financial support is, in essence, an open door to the future for thousands of students.

The Dominican State does not come solely to hand out a scholarship. It comes to tell thousands of young people that when you reach the goal by making your best efforts, those efforts have their reward. Today we are opening doors, creating opportunities, and telling you that we trust in your ability to build the future of our country.
