Abel Martínez reaffirms his presidential aspirations with his sights set on 2028

The former mayor of Santiago and leader of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), Abel Martínez, has made it clear that his political project remains more active than ever. With the conviction that “no evil lasts a hundred years,” the politician has initiated a strategic path focused on achieving his party’s presidential nomination for the 2028 elections.

Through his close encounters called “A coffee with Abel”, the leader has managed to strengthen ties with community leaders, PLD supporters, and citizens from various districts. These spaces have allowed him to hear firsthand the population’s concerns regarding critical issues for national development.

The time to restore citizen security and shield our sovereignty is getting closer every day. Let us work with firmness, determination, and without distractions to build, starting in 2028, a more orderly, secure, and prosperous Dominican Republic.

Priorities and country vision

During his interventions, Martínez has emphasized that his government proposal will focus on fundamental axes that, in his view, require urgent transformation. Among the priority areas he seeks to address are:

  • Citizen security to guarantee the tranquility of families.
  • Strengthening of the health system and educational quality.
  • Promotion of national production.
  • Protection and shielding of Dominican sovereignty.

Position regarding the PLD’s internal process

Regarding the internal consultation scheduled by the PLD for next October 18, Martínez has been emphatic in maintaining a position of impartiality. Although the leader recognizes the importance of the party’s institutional processes, he has decided not to involve his political structure in this specific measurement.

“Let no one misunderstand our position: we respect the measurement process that the PLD will carry out and we will remain impartial,” reiterated the former presidential hopeful. Likewise, he clarified that those members of his team who hold positions within the party structure will fulfill their institutional duties, while his personal project will continue to work independently toward its long-term goals.

Finally, Martínez pointed out that he will define the formal path of his presidential aspirations while respecting the deadlines established by current electoral legislation, motivated by the support he claims to receive from citizens in each of his tours around the country.
